Ah.. to be a child again! Thanks to a persistent door to door Bible salesman, membership in the Kid’s Bible Club was included with the avocado green leatherette bound collection of hi-fidelity LPs. ”Uncle Earl” came to life at 33 1/3 rpm on the Magnavox (Sword, a division of WORD Records). Hours were spent dutifully coloring rainbows and singing along. Uncle Earl would ask us to move closer, sitting at his feet while he told stories of “Daniel in the Lions Den” or “David and Goliath.” One could actually visualise the perspiration dripping from firm pecs and the musky smell of manhood. Who could forget the story of Jacob, “My brother Esau is an hairy man, yet I am a smooth man. ” Genesis 27:11
